Frequently asked questions

Product Sourcing

Which African products can you source?+

We assess mandates across agricultural goods, responsibly sourced minerals, construction materials, equipment and selected consumer or industrial products. Acceptance depends on specifications, legal origin, traceability, sanctions and compliance.

Can you source products from multiple countries?+

Yes, when we can verify suppliers and the export pathway in each market. We confirm country coverage before accepting a multi-country mandate.

Do you work directly with manufacturers and producers?+

Where possible, we identify producers, manufacturers, cooperatives or authorised exporters. The appropriate counterparty depends on the product, export licensing and required volumes.

Can you source custom products?+

Yes. The brief must define specifications, standards, certification, packaging, volume, target price, destination and timetable before suppliers are approached.

What are the minimum order quantities?+

There is no single ASI minimum. The supplier, product, production method, packaging and freight economics determine the practical minimum order.

Supplier Verification

How do you verify suppliers?+

Checks can include registration, operating status, ownership information, business activity, references, capacity, export experience, bank-detail consistency and direct contact with decision-makers.

Can you inspect factories?+

Yes. We can coordinate a factory or warehouse visit after initial documentary checks. Technical or laboratory inspection may require an independent specialist.

Can you verify mining companies?+

Yes, as a risk-based commercial and documentary review. We can check the corporate counterparty and beneficial owners; mining title or operating-licence holder and validity; seller mandate; authority to market and export; tax, customs and sanctions/AML status; legal origin and traceability; production or allocation evidence; consistency of the offer, invoice, contract and bank details; and the proposed logistics chain. For a transaction, the actual lot should be subject to independent weight and assay by an agreed inspector, with payment and document conditions written into the SPA. Specialist legal, geological, responsible-sourcing and laboratory opinions remain separate professional work.

Can you perform due diligence?+

ASI performs commercial verification and can coordinate qualified legal, financial, technical or compliance specialists when formal due diligence is required.

Can you arrange quality inspections?+

Yes. We can coordinate samples, pre-shipment inspection, laboratory testing or independent quality control based on agreed specifications.

Buying Process

How long does product sourcing take?+

A straightforward search can take 2–4 weeks. Regulated products, custom specifications, multiple countries, samples or site inspections can take longer.

How are prices negotiated?+

We compare quotations and clarify specifications, volume, Incoterms, payment terms, lead time, inspection, packaging and logistics before supporting negotiations.

Can you organise samples?+

Yes, subject to supplier availability, product legality, courier restrictions and payment of sample and transport costs.

Can you negotiate on our behalf?+

We can support or coordinate negotiations within a written mandate. Final commercial approval remains with the client.

Can you support contract negotiations?+

We can coordinate commercial inputs and local context. Contract drafting and jurisdiction-specific legal review should be handled by qualified counsel.

Logistics

Can you arrange shipping?+

We can obtain and coordinate freight options with logistics providers. The exact role and liability are agreed for each transaction.

Do you organise customs documentation?+

We coordinate the document checklist with exporters, importers, customs agents and freight partners. The contracting parties remain responsible for accurate declarations.

Can you coordinate freight?+

Yes. We can compare routes and providers and coordinate collection, export handling, international freight and destination handover.

Which Incoterms do you support?+

The appropriate Incoterm depends on the product, route and allocation of risk. Common structures can include EXW, FCA, FOB, CFR, CIF, CPT, CIP, DAP or DDP where practical and lawful.

Can you monitor delivery?+

Yes. We can track agreed milestones, documents, dispatch, freight status and handover, and escalate exceptions to the responsible party.

Business Missions

Can we visit suppliers before ordering?+

Yes. A private sourcing mission can be organised after suitable suppliers have passed initial qualification.

Can you organise factory visits?+

Yes. We coordinate appointments, access, interpretation, transport and the visit agenda, subject to supplier approval.

Can you arrange meetings with buyers?+

Yes. Buyer meetings can be included once relevance and initial interest have been confirmed.

Can you organise a private sourcing mission?+

Yes. The mission is a separately scoped add-on built around verified counterparties, inspections, negotiations and local logistics.

Can you accompany us during negotiations?+

Yes. ASI can provide local coordination, commercial context and language support while the client retains final decision authority.
